Default Stock vs. Mod

I notice that a great many of you here like to trick up your trucks, and then there are a few who - like myself - prefer to keep our trucks relatively simple.

I'm interested to know what your preference is and why. Is your truck functional or is it more for show? Maybe you split the difference and install a few mods but not to the point you can't use your truck for its intended purpose.

Speaking for myself, I bought my truck to be able to haul things and pull a trailer. The brush guard and running boards were already installed when I bought it. I consider both functional add-ons but yet they still add to the appearance. That being said, I also am very particular about keeping it clean and looking nice.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's thoughts on this.

I don't know why other guys do it but I do for a few reasons. Mainly because I don't like seeing another truck that looks like mine. I like to be one of a kind. It's kinda a pet peeve of mine. It helps my mom realize it's me driving too. Haha. It sorta helps. But also I do it because it obviously looks cool and I like it. I mean you can justify anything how you want but you do it because you like it for the most part.

For me I cant leave anything alone. When I was a kid I played with Legos and hotwheels from the time I woke up to when I went to bed so Im a diehard car guy. I may not know everything, but I do all my own mods. I want my truck to stand out from a crowd, but do it subltly. Im not into bling this or that, just simple mods that pop so my truck isnt like everyone else. Like Falco51 stated, I make my vehicles one of a kind...

I like to keep my truck simple but not completely stock. 2 inch leveling kit, don't need it completely leveled I tow a lot. Projectors, need them so that I can see better at night. Mud tires I go out into the mud a lot in the ranch also for the winter time. Don't have them on now need to buy them again. I Don't want to go all out with lift kits and all that! Cause I do need tow also I'm 16 and don't have the money for that haha

I'm torn between the two. I can't leave anything alone, but I'm not going to throw something on there that I don't use. For example, I won't install a bull bar or brush guard because I don't drive my truck into the woods. And I won't install a lift kit higher than 2.5-inches because I don't go off-roading. I did install a LED lighting all around because I do drive at night and I like to be seen. I installed a headache rack because I need one to protect the rear window and to hold my cargo in place. I installed a Borla Cat-Back exhaust to rid myself of the original piece of s**t Dynomax that was falling apart, but I probably would have gone that route anyways. For me, I'll continue to modify, upgrade and improve my vehicles but it will always be more function than anything else.

I just prefer a more sleek look with minimal bling. Big lifts and bumpers look good, but they've just never been my cup of tea. This is my first 4wd truck as everything else has been a sports car or lowered truck. My truck is just leveled with 35s so it's very functional and sees trail use often. It also gets used a tow rig and DD for the time being. I'm also very particular about keeping my truck clean and put quite a bit of time into it throughout the week.

Like some on here, I cant leave good enough alone. I'm even trying to mod my wife's Ford Edge that I recently got her but she stops me in my tracks and points me back toward my truck.

I wanted to level out my truck and add some off road tires but I never even driven on a dirt road and it's a 2wd so I lowered it slightly and added some chrome 22's. I love every look, lifted, slammed, murdered out....and chrome so I went with what I wanted.

I went with leds outside, projector/halo headlights with 6ks, led tails and 3rd brake light cuz I like the look. No engine mods yet besides a glasspack if place of factory muffler.

I'm old enough not to make my truck look like a clown, but young enough to have a little fun with it.

I owned a Mustang and that is where it all started. I Put 2 12's in it because I love loud music. I just put in some projectors with 6k hids. (never got to mess with lighting on the stang). I would love to throw a long travel kit on it, but only when it becomes a toy, or I could just buy a Raptor. A leveling kit would be plenty fine for now (I only use it for DD right now, but lots of towing to come when I get another mustang). I would love to throw a supercharger on there (about the only motor mod I really want to do). I think part of it is I need something to work on, a project, but also I like making my vehicles to my liking not a design engineers liking. Everything I do is functional for me.
