Default Stereo problems after dvd bypass switch hookup. HELP!!

I recently purchased a avh-3200bt and I was running the bypass for the dvd to play while driving. I hooked up the green brake wire and ground to a 3 prong rocker switch. it worked but then my friend told me to hook up the red power wire that way the light would come on the switch. It powered up just fine then i flipped the switch and lost all power to the unit. It wouldnt turn back on afterwards again. I have checked all the radio fuses, none were blown. I then checked the voltage to the Yellow wire on the harness and it was at 12.5 with the key on. I then checked the red one and got nothing. I also tried hooking up the stock deck and got nothing but lights and clock on the stock deck. If any one knows of maybe another fuse or something it would be greatly appreciated. Its on a 04 Supercrew with a base stereo system

I may be wrong but sounds like you hook the supply power red wire to the radio ground black wire so when you hit the switch you sent power to your ground buring up radio

I would have to agree with jhunt.....you connected a power wire to a ground...

I have the same exact radio in my 05 and I picked up my By-pass switch from Ebay for 10 bucks, hooked it up...Black to ground, green to green and orange to orange and mine works fine.

I've heard horror stories about doing it the way you did it and didnt want to mess with it thats why i did the ebay bypass route.

Check your fuses.

It sounds like the red acc wire is the problem. It's not coming on when you turn the key. Thats why the stock stereo does not work.

To test your pioneer head unit connect the red wire to the yellow power wire. This will bypass the red acc wire and give power to the unit with the key off.

Really good video on how to wire the bypass. I just did it on my buddys F-150.

Post #8 has the fues diagram.

In my manual

#7 is listed as radio (signal start) 5A fuse

#22 delayed accessory start for audio 10A fuse

#31 radio power 20A fuse

I'm thinking it's #7 but check them all.

Some of these radios install a fuse on their backside...have you checked that?

If I burned up just the radio wouldnt my stock deck still work. And there is no voltage coming through the red wire, plenty is coming through the yellow wire
