do you know how much work is involved with that? would I need to take everything apart up front just to get to it?

You would pretty much have to take apart the front brake/suspension/steering assembly. Not in it's entire section but some parts can be loosened, such as the steering. If you check my suspension threads you'll see the procedure. Not exactly how to install/adjust a cambolt kit for alignment but you'll get the idea of what is required. Airtools are a must!

man... wish I had done it when i changed the ball joints and tie rods out. that sucks

It should take less than an hour per side, so it's not too difficult at all. And considering you've serviced your front-end recently, everything should come off easily rather than having to bust yourself up trying to free up seized fasteners.
