Standard cab, behind headliner
I'm getting ready to install an overhead console, removed from an 06 STX. According to the "yard" I got it from, all Ford F150's have the mounting tabs welded/spot welded to the metal roof of the cab.
I searched and saw that many of you have installed cab lights, so I'm assuming this was done by removing the headliner. To those of you that have on a STANDARD CAB, did you notice any tabs that the metal overhead console snaps onto? Or perhaps some of you with standard cabs with a console have removed the headliner and can confirm these tabs.
Before I go and remove A pilar, side trim, sun visors, etc., I'm hoping those of you that have had an overhead console can confirm that the metal bracket used by the simple overhead console I bought will work. I don't want it to sag, so this metal bracket has to be installed. Here's a pic of what I bought (first picture shows the metal bracket to attach hopefully to the roof):

by the looks of the ford manual for the 05. the tabs should be there. was this removed from another regular cab or an extended cab. cause i have an 04 with the overhead console rails and they look alot longer than that one.
It came from an extended cab. I have a standard cab, so I wanted to be sure the tabs were there in the cab's roof before I attempted to remove the headliner.

There are several overhead consoles that were installed on the various models of our F150's. The "rail" setup would be the deluxe model I'd say, as it allowed the owner to purchase additional pieces to add to the rail (I.E. a DVD monitor).
The other type overhead consoles are simpler, such as the one I'm wanting to add. It has a couple of lights, and a flip down flap that would allow a driver to put something like their sunglasses into.
The standard cap STX and perhaps the XL models have even a simpler overhead console: a light and an open pod (no flap to open).
As to how Ford decided which models got what consoles and on what day, well, I'd have no clue other than the Lariats, King Ranch, and Platimum models that would get the overhead rail type console.
My question pertained to if the welded tabs that these overhead console mounting plates are on all models (standard cab verses extended cab verses crew cab).
