Alright so assuming both of you dudes have the 5.4 3v: unplug your VCT solenoids and then try accelerating slowly to see if it stalls. FordTech showed this in a video. Engine shuts down to protect itself due to low oil pressure, which could be a fault of the solenoids or a couple other things. Unplugging them disables the VCT system and the low oil pressure to the phasers won’t cause a shutdown.

I've seen that video and it does seem to be onto something. Only problem for me is that it is so intermittent, it'll be hard to tell if it helped. I'll watch again, maybe I misinterpreted what he was showing. I've been tempted to go ahead and change the vct solenoids just to rule it out. Its right on the bubble of being too pricey to just throw money at. I've also cleaned the trottle body as was suggested. Although it was carbon'd up pretty bad, the stalls continue.

How intermittently did it happen? I’d leave them unplugged for a week. Sure you’ll lose some mpg and power but if this would happen at least once a week and then it stopped, then you’d be heading in the right direction
