wd 40 is a good cleaner, being such it will take off whatever grease may still be on there. pb or some lithium grease would work better.

At the bottom of each rail is a plastic pulley that the cable goes around. IF this pulley is whats making the noise as it was for me you can verify it by sticking your hand down and holding the pulley in place while you run the window partially up and down.....common sense says watch your hand! if they noise level goes away then its that pulley if only lightens up then its both. I was able to get some slick 50 sprayed on to the face of the pulley which worked its way on to the pulley shaft....problem fixed. My window and me are happy again. I also have tinted windows and do not have any film or anything on my window since the glass does not contact this. You may also want some sort of sealant handy to glue to water guard back to your inner door panel.
First I tried dry silicone spray on the rubber/felt seals, no improvement (did make for one hell of a mess on my window). Then I tried white lithium grease on the sliders, no improvement. then I put white lithium grease on the grove of the 2 lower pulleys and ran the window up and down to get grease in the cables, no improvement. Then I did the same on the 2 upper pulleys, no improvement, Then I put grease on the central pulley where the window drive motor is attached, no improvement. Then I put Tri-Flow lube on the lower pulley shafts (kind of hard to do), the noise started to go away. Then I lubed the shafts on the upper two pulleys, now my window is whisper quiet! As stated above, just get some lube on the 4 pulley shafts on the 4 corners of the door and you should be good to go!

Here is a video of my window going up and down after lubing everything except the pulley shafts. Sorry about the poor quality, took it with my phone on the lower quality setting.

You guys had it figured out before I could post. The sound presents as though it is the glass or top end making the noise. This is thanks to the cable-drive system, which resonates any sounds throughout the entire assy. You will find that lubing the pulleys is a short-term solution, and will likely last about a year before coming back, depending on window usage. If left unattended, the pulley will actually crack/disintegrate due to the cable tension, at which point your cable becomes a time bomb as it is rubbing metal on metal.

Hope this helps.
this is perfect description of how to take door panel off. I just did mine today had to spray lube both top pulleys. they are hard to see but with the red spray tube I was able to just spray up the whole area. so nice not having squeaky windows again.
