I had to use vinegar on the paint on my truck to remove hard water spots where my sprinkler hit it. It worked surprisingly well. I'd spray it on let it soak and the use a wet sponge to wipe it off. Took several times but it worked.

I tried the straight vinegar with 0000 steel wool. Didn't phase it. The claybar worked wonders for the little amount of time I put into it.

I asked this very question for my wife's pathfinder on a very larger auto detailing forum, AutoGeek.

Many there said to buy this stuff. I havnt had time to try it out to give my personal experience.

Yeah. The crap ain't easy to get off that's for sure. I tried a polishing compound first and it didn't remove it. Didn't want to get to aggressive with it on the paint. I had to let the vinegar eat and it took quite a few times.
