Default Speakers

Hey, I've got a 2006 F-150 Super Cab (extended cab). I want to know what size door speakers to get for the front and back doors. Could someone help me out please? Thanks!

Ford's standard for speakers for a long time has been the 6"x8", and that is what is in your truck stock. Most aftermarket 5"x7" have a large enough basket and the correct mounting tabs to fit in that location as well. You can also fit up to a 6.75" round speaker (depending on basket width) by using adapter plates you can find on ebay and that come with some of the more common manufacturer's speakers (Alpine and Pioneer among others).

If you have the audiophile upgrade, you have 4" mids and tweeters in your front doors, but the opening is the same old 6x8. The door is prepped for tweeters whether or not you have the audiophile package, so you can use components (seperates) if you prefer.

6.75" Component mids with included Pioneer adapter:

Well, short answer is no. They do make an adapter plug that simply plugs into your OEM ford wire (from radio to speaker) and has two terminals that connect to any aftermarket speaker. The terminals are color coded, and different sizes so you can't reverse them. Its like 10-15 bucks from bestbuy or online you can find it for $5 or so. Makes the install just that much faster and you dont have to butcher your OEM.

You can get all kinds of ideas here.
Even call for support.
Gator shows a component speaker in his pic-see the tweeter above the arm rest?
Remember that our door speakers sound goes right into our knees or calves, and component speakers are a great idea for the front doors. Check out the aftermarket/audio sticky;

alright cool. i installed by front speakers today, but for the rear door, it's an extended cab or super cab (whatever ford calls it) does the speaker cover come off by prying it just like on the front doors? or do i need to take the door panel off?
