Default speaker wire

replacing my aftermarket head unit with a new Kenwood DDX374BT. I am replacing the stock speakers (not sure with what yet) and speaker wiring. I was wondering how many feet I should get of 16G wire? No added amp though. The Truck is a 2004 Lariat crew cab. I looked at the plugs for the doors and didn't notice those plastic MOLEX plugs some people mention (which have to be drilled). I am thinking the wires should be easy enough to route given the lack of plastic molex plugs. Thoughts?

Maybe I'm wrong but there's is probably nothing wrong with the speaker wires that are already in your truck.

I'm thinking if you did a side-by-side comparison you would not hear the difference, if there is any. I could be wrong. Sounds like a lot of work, too. Let's hear some other opinions. I could be full of crap. LOL!

I wouldn't. I have the Kicker system with 50 watts to the door speakers. No problems. An electronics buddy of mine say the wires are short enough that the stock wires should be good up to around 100 watts. I know someone will disagree, but that's my opinion.

I went thru this same question awhile back and went with the above suggestion to not replace the door speaker wires.

The advice was correct, no need to change. I run 75 watts rms to JL components and they will run you out of the truck if you so desire.

Will recommend you consider installing dynamat type material in the doors. I did inner and outer panels and it really made a difference!
