Default speaker box

I have a aftermarket speaker box, and a amp.... can I wire into the pigtail for the factory setup and get the power for the amp, and the signal for the speakers from that same wire?

Yes you can wire the amp to the OEM radio. You'll need to get a "line in/out" converter to convert the signal to the amp and subs.

Default ???????

ok, how does the factory amp vary from the aftermarket? there should be a power, remote on wire, and signal wires from the radio..... why would I need to have a line out converter? I've done some stereo stuff. just never tried to hook it up to the factory wiring?

You'll need a converter because the back of the OEM radio doesn't have the red, yellow and white av outputs to hook up an amp and subs.

The factory amp gets it's power from the cd player. Yes it is hooked up through the radio but the factory cd player doesn't power the sub or the speakers, the amp does.

Default break it down

ok.... I know the amp gets power from a different source, and then the speaker signal goes into it, gets AMPED then comes out..... what I'm saying is does the pigtail in the back of the cab have the
power 12V
ground
remote on
speaker +
speaker-

cause in order for it to work with the FACTORY amp... it would have to right? So in theroy, the wiring for the factory amp could be used to power and aftermarket amp, turn the gain up, mess with the sens due to the output of the stock radio being @ 15 watts, and it should be good as long as the amp dosen't pull too much on the stock wiring

You really want to go through all that trouble for an amp?? What you're saying is correct but it would be easier to replace the stock amp with an aftermarket amp that is more powerful. I've got the wiring diagrams of how me and a friend did his King Ranch Expedition. I've just gotta locate them.

Default instlation 101

you "CANT" hook it to aftermarket amp if you want it to work right you need a amp kit what that guy and his fried did was cut a speacker line and hooked up a converter so he could run "RCA" jacks which you will have to do if you stick with the oem radio you need an amp kit you can buy at your loco car audio store or walmart you have to 1. run a power wire from your battery to the inside of your cab through your fire wall. 2.run a ground wire you can ground it to something metal like your floor or seat brackets make sure you clean the spot where you are going to mount the wire with sand paper. 3 there is a blue wire on the back of your "OEM" pig tail that is your remoat it has to go to your amp that whire shuts your amp off and turns it on with the radio. 4.oem radio that converter he was talking about you have to cut 1 speacker + wire and - wire and connect the converter so you can plug your "RCA" jacks into it 5. when thats done just throw your subs in. the best thing to do is get an after marcket radio and mounting bracket and quick disconnect cause that converter to be honest is junk! o yea when you run your RCA MAKE SURE THAY ARE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAB AWAY FROM THE POWER WIRE your subs will sound like crap if the rca and power wires are next to each other
