Default spark plugs!

Just bought my 2007 which just hit 80,000 miles. Am I going to have a problem with the removal of the spark plugs or is this whole breaking problem fixed in the 07's?

There's a chance you'll have issues. They new head and spark plugs weren't changed until mid 2008 so your truck still has the old, problematic style.

It's hit or miss... won't know til you start turning them out. I did mine with NO breakage (142k). You may luck out & find that someone already replaced them. There're tons of threads on here, read & learn, it'll pay off.

You never stated which motor you have. Only the 5.4s have problems.

Read the spark plug sticky at the top of this forum. It has a lot of pages, but it addresses the years that this plug issue effects.

Default Engine Year

Good to know on the engine year. Just purchased an 08 with 35K (5.4).
Was planning on having them pulled prior to 60K.
Bob

Just confirmed that my motor and vehichle was built in January of 08.

yeah, Engine's produced after 10/07 has the new design... Don't know how many older motors went into late 07/early 08 trucks though.
