Default Spare Key Help!

So due to recently losing my keys I have ordered a new one off ebay. This key is somewhat different than the stock keys. It is one of the all in one keys with the unlock/lock and panic button built in. (I will post a link below) What I am wondering is how to go about getting it to work in my truck. After doing a little research it sounds like it could be a pain in the butt. So I am wondering if I should just take the key to the dealership or what? If anyone has ran into this issue before and has figured it out all help would be great! Thanks!

How many keys do you have? It's simple if you have two keys and the clickers you want to program. I'll try and see if I can find it.

Yes unfortunately if you don't have 2 keys the dealer needs to program the second key. If you have a remote starter, you can use the bypass as a second key usually to program it but it's not an easy process.

You can also go to an automotive locksmith, they can usually do it for much cheaper than the dealer. I only had one key for my truck and the dealer wanted $200 to program a new key, the locksmith was only $75. The locksmith key is a clone so I still can't program my own keys, but I have a spare now so I am happy enough with that!

Yeah I might check with both the dealership and a locksmith. You say its a clone key? Will that key do everything a normal key would do? (start the truck, unlock/lock panic?)

Yes, the "clone" key will work everything just like an original factory key. When I bought my truck it came with only one key. I called a mobile locksmith and he drove to my house and programmed a second key for me in my driveway while I watched for $65. Don't go to the dealership and overpay.

There are two different types of keys you can get. One with a transponder/chip inside it that's programmable so you can start your truck with it and there's just a copy that you can get made that does not have a transponder/chip that will only unlock your door and tailgate and will NOT start your truck.
