Sorta front end rant
Well, finally got around to putting the summer tires/rims on the truck, got around to the front and as I was tightening the lugs it felt like the tire was still loose. Huh..musta got it off center or something. Pulled the tire off, checked for debris/rust on the rotor and rim found nothing. So I proceded to put the tire on, as I am putting the tire on I notice a lot of play in the the rotor assembly. That's wierd I thought, pulled the tire off and looked under the truck. As I put pressure on the rotor, I could see that the front tie rod was damn near falling apart. Holy crap I thinks...off to the dealer she goes.
Dropped it off at my dealer thinking on how this could have happened to an almost new truck...when I return to the dealer to pick the truck up I get another surprise...both upper balljoints needed replacement as well.
Not unusual you think? My truck has 28K Kms on it (~17K miles) with very light use. No offroading, no severe towing (my boat is about 4K lbs) and no teens to punish it. Just me and the wife taking it out once in a while (I have a company vehicle that does all the heavy lifting).
I really thought they solved the front end issues from the last generation of trucks. Is anyone else seeing this kind of problem? I'm thinking of trading in for a 2010...I hate lemons.
