Default Down sizing wheels/tires?

I have the 18 inch factory fx4 rims on now. I just bought a set of 17 inch Eagle Alloys with BFG AT for $250 (for all 4). The tire size is 285/70/17, is there any disadvantage to putting these wheels and tires on my 04 fx4. I had a set of 20 inch wheels with Nitto Terra Grappers (305/55/20) but sold them. I like the way they rode and handled bud it just looked like there wasn't enough tire there. Any opinions?

typically the more tire than rim you have the more bumps are soaked up but that also depends on sidewall ply. but having less sidewall means leass sidewall flex for in trurns and stuff... kinda makes it feel like your steering is a little tighter. personally for my truck i prefer more tire but thats just me good luck bud

i have 285/70/17 goodyear wranglers and i love them... theyre wider than stock ones which looks pretty good but i run them with no levelling kit or anything and it rides great and absorbs bumps nicely
