Sooo sick of having HID PROBLEMS!
Okay, not trying to be a post hog, but I've had it with my HID lights. The first set I had ran fine for almost two years. Then I was replacing fog light bulbs and ballast every couple of months, no big deal, ballasts are only 10 bucks, and fog light bulbs were only 10 bucks. I recently hit a deer and had to have new high beam bulbs in...I spent $200 dollars on the nicest ballast I could find but I'm still having problems! I have no high beam...when I flick my light forward for HI-beam all my lights shut off...no clue whats going on. And now I just blew through another set of fog light bulbs and ballasts from all this snow and freezing rain! I'm sick of messing with these lights...they look great when they're working but I need to try something newer and more reliable. I was thinking of mounting some RIGID INDUSTRIES D2's and hardwiring them into my fog light connections...any reason I shouldn't do this? Rigids are amazing lights and stand up to anything. I need a permanent fix, screw having HID's
I don't see why hardwiring they would hurt it just allows you to turn them on and off like factory light and if you want to leve the pods on while having hi- beam you can do something to a relay that allows you to do it I believe it's called the " Bambi mod"

I also have a set of D2's mounted on my bull bar, I believe they are the Flood version of the D2? I also have the spot version of the D2's mounted to my honda rancher and boy what a difference! How did you wire them into your system? and was it hard to mount them in the housing? I really hate to cut off the connector plugs that come on the D2s, would make it really easy to take them out if I ever had to do it...
I kept the wires on the lights, they came with a wiring harness that I used and 2 relays run them. One relay is triggered by the factory fog light power, and second is triggered by the bright lights. So they are on when the bright lights are on too. (This is the only way to get the fog lights on at the same time as the brights on the 2009-2014).
I just drilled a hole in the bottom of the round tube that the factory fogs were in. I then had to add a spacer so that I could turn the lights and get them a bit more centred.
