Soft brake peddle
Read a post on here from 2007 about adjusting the rod in the brake booster. Post said to only try on vehicle when it's new but would appear some did it on vehicles not so new.
My 2007 F150 XLT Screw with the 5.4 3V auto tranny has a soft brake peddle and if I pump the peddle once it firms up. After stopping if I continue pressing the peddle it continues to slowly go down. My question is this, can I/should I try loosening the master cylinder as suggested and turn the rod out as others have posted and expect a firmer peddle. The truck has 144000 and is 13 years old, a long way from new.
Thanks

How about fixing the actual problem instead of trying to find a way to mask it. A soft brake pedal indicates you have air in your brake lines. Bleeding the brakes should fix this. If your pedal builds pressure then goes to the floor when you press on it, that means you have a leak. Either a leak in the brake lines, or your master cylinder or booster has a leak somewhere. Start with checking for leaks. Easy to do, look at all four calipers and look for fluid. Also check around the master cylinder. If no leaks, bleed your brakes at all 4 corners. If that doesn't fix it you likely need a new booster. Pretty simple to diagnose.
