Default So wet!

Hello.. Apparently my 3rd brake light thats ontop of my truck has a major leak, I took it off and noticed the gasket is all distorted. Just had a real heavy rain for 2 days and now the inside of my truck is soaked. Behind the rear seat and under the carpet running along the wiring harness on either side. grrrrrrrr ... Can anyone tell me how to get the rear back seat out of a 2004 f150 supercab? I have looked and cant see any latches, only 4 or 5 metal hook looking thingys and a bar that runs across underneath. Do I have to take out the bottom part first? A reply would be greatly appreciated, thanx. peace.

Exclamation

ok thanx, Ive been looking online for a diagram or instructions but no luck yet, seems to be a big mystery. If I take my truck to the dealership they would want money to take it out probably!

I think there was something relaesed about the rear light leaking, you should take it into your dealer and demand they fix it.

Thumbs down

I did take it into the dealership, but my truck is not under warranty anymore so they said it was up to me to pay for it. After a few cuss words to the technician I left, frustrated no doubt. I came home and pulled the carpet back as much as I could, luckily it was last summer and it dried out within a couple days, a week actually, before mold or mildew sat in. I took the brake light off and saw that the gasket was all scrunched up in places so I fixed that, so I thought, noticed last week or so that the carpet was wet again, dried it out took the light off again and again the gasket was out of place. I just put some sealant around it and let it dry, hopefully it wont leak anymore. Now when I have to change a bulb not sure how I will get the light off because of the sealant..oh boy! I asked them if it was a recall and they said no. I thought that the TSB or whatever is just a technical bulletin to let the technicians know that a part has issues and that its just to let them know people will be bringing their cars in to have it checked out and or fixed? maybe Im wrong, but the techs at my dealership never mentioned it.

dealerships will lie to you , when I asked them if ther is anything wrong with the new 3 valve tritons and the sparkplugs, they said there is no problem at all with them.

There is a tsb for this issue but if your out of warranty it doesn't matter, it's on your wallet. You can do like some others and go to Lowe's and get some weatherstripping and just replace it. Should be good as new.

The hardest part is taking off the back, start by taking off the headrests and the plastic box that covers the middle seatbelt at the top. Then there are two metal pieces that run vertical behind the seat, take a screwdriver and place it on the inner side of the metal bar and slide it up (what your trying to do is there is a latch that is holding the seat and you need to push it up) until you can't move it much then simultaneously push down on the seat while pushing the screwdriver up, the seat should pop off (with probably a lot of work) do the same on the other side. Then the bottom is easier just unscrew the bolts holding it in. I had to take my truck in for an oil change and just happened to ask how to take it out and the service guy just came out and took it out for me, so that might help, I havent tried it, but he said they are a bitch to take out (and it kind of looked like it)
