Default single cab v6 help

i have a 07 single cab xl f150 that i want to lift i recently just bought a 3in suspension lift which is 2 front spacers that go on top of the springs and it also comes with 2 add a leafs with lift up the back to. but i want to put 35s with a 20 inch or 18 inch rims but my dad says since its a 6 it wont be able to handle it, so he said to go with 33s. could i just put 35s and put in like 4.10 gears with a posi and a k&n and also a performace chip? would that work or what could i do? im probably gonna buy a 3 inch body lift thats why i want 35s. im gonna post a pic of my truck pretty soon

I'd listen to dad. The 4.2 V6 is not going to be happy rotating 35's. If you just gotta have that much tire, sell the truck and opt for a V8.

And for the record, I'm a huge fan of the 4.2 V6; I have one in my truck.

I also have a V6 in my truck, its a 2wd but it has very heavy big pimpin wheels....they are like 95 lbs each. And that V6 is not real happy with them.. so going up is not a real good idea.

Bucko's good at being the voice of reason.

I'm assuming you've got a 2wd, since you're looking at the body lift to fit 35s. If you do decide to go with 35s, I would highly recommend re gearing (especially since with one diff it won't be too bad) while you're at it, have a LS or Locker installed to help with traction. If you're going to do the gear swap, I'd say 4.10s minimum.

There are a few disadvantages to stepping up to 18s or 20s. You want sidewall flex and the ability to air down for added traction, not to mention there is a large premium for the rubber for the larger rims. I'd recommend staying at 17s even going aftermarket, better performance and more money in your pocket.

Have you tackled power windows and locks yet? For a couple hundred bucks and a few hours of work that is one of the best early mods for an XL.

As far as performance, skip the CAI, if you get a programmer get the cheapest used one you can find (this will also help correct for your tires and gears and get your tranny shifts and speedo corrected).

I guess your asking about my Power Window/Lock/Mirror project.

Well I have factory door trim panels with switches... (brand new ones)

And I have the power window regulators, and mirrors. all factory stuff.

But I still am looking for door harnesses... I want to make it a real nice job. But I just cant find the harnesses. So I am now trying to build my own.. I have all the wiring figured out using a wiring diagram,,, actually these are very easy.

The biggest issue with building my own harnesses is finding the connectors. Until then, I will just have to deal with the crank windows.
