Default silver star headlight bulbs ?

What kind of life is everyone getting out of their silver star bulbs? On the box it shows that you only get ¼ of the life of a normal oem bulb.

My 11 Lariat is my third vehicle in which I am using the Silverstar Ultras- I have yet to replace one of them.

I haven't installed them in my F150 yet but in my Escape they last about 1 year, the factory would last 3 at least.

Even with the short bulb life I still used them, the extra light output was worth it to me.

I bought them in August for my Subaru. I've replaced the drivers side in November, and the passenger one just went out last week. I won't buy them ever again. Next time I upgrade my headlights, I'm going with HIDs.

So if I don't go with silver star bulbs, what's a good reliable long life brand?

I've always gone with the GE bulb. Basically OEM. I tried them silverstars and not worth the extra money. Like the guy who put them on his subaru, I too owned a subaru and they lasted like 3 months. I replaced them again thinking maybe they were faulty but then lasted about 3-4 months again. After that just switched back to the GE bulbs and didn't have to replace them for a long time.

I have heard of a bulb called Osram Silverstars (not to be confused with the sylvania silverstar) and that one has been rated pretty high. I would go with those if I didn't get the GE bulbs.

I had them in my Grand Cherokee and they lasted about a year before one went out. I thought they would last longer than that but I would still buy them again because of the increased field of view

Phillips makes a crystal vision ultra bulb that is 5k and very bright. Had them for the past 14 months so far NO complaints.
