Default signal mirrors

I have a 2008 with power mirrors, no signals, no heat. I bought new ones with signals and I have read contradicting posts here that say they will just plug in and work and others that say they will not and it will have to be wired in separetly. Can someone help clear this up please??

From what I have heard
if you have power mirrors they should just plug in, the signals should work but of coarse extra needs to be done if you did not already have the heated mirrors

I'll give you a direct answer unlike most of the people responding here...

No, you won't have signals. You will retain the power function of the mirror, but signal and defrost will not be wired and will need to be wired. Signal is easy as I have done this to my towing mirrors (I had power mirrors but no signals, so my power was retained but everything else needed to be wired). If your pigtail off the mirror, inside the door, has only 4 wires on it, then thats power only, no signals/defrost.

Hello all, I have done this exact mod, and was actually able to use a set of 08 signals on my 08. My plug had all of the wires needed at the plug at the mirror, but not all of the body wiring was there.
The signal was the only thing to work besides the power portion. I had no heat, or in the case of the 07's and newer, the auto dim feature which is what I really wanted.
I had already wired in an auto dimming rear view, and with the help of an 08 wiring manual was able to trace and wire up the rear view to my side view. I also found out that the wiring differs from year to year on color codes, so try to stick with the exact year book for your vehicle.
As far as the heat, that is another story. I went to try to wire that into my harness, but the SJB (smart junction box) has NO provisions for heated mirrors. No relays, no fuses, not even the sockets to plug them in, as it ties into the rear window defrost area of the SJB, which I do not have. It would involve wiring the whole circuit, which I feel would be a bit of a pain. I figure how much does our side views really frost up anyway?
I live in Michigan, and I can only recall maybe a couple of times during the winter.
I can provide the color codes for the side view if needed (PM me). I have not been able to send pics out lately (computer glitch) or more than likely operator glitch, ha ha. Hope this helps, take care.

FYI, the 2007 plug diagram above, is the same on the 2008 (just compared to my service manual).
