Default side emblem removal and replacement

I've read that you can use fishing line and a hair dryer to remove side emblems to paint them, but what is the best adhesive to stick them back on with? I'd like to paint mine crimson and black as opposed to the chrome bc I don't want to pay $200 for the replacement emblems.

One thing many people do is mask off all around the emblems and paint while they're on the truck.
If you take them off, clean all old adhesion tape and residue away. Use 3M Automotive Double Sided Tape to reattach, then you're good to go!

I thought our emblems had pins in them that go into the fender?

Right, but it's only for alignment. They don't actually hold the emblems on. They're held on with double sided tape from the factory.

so once removed, if the emblems are left off the truck there would be a hole in the fender?

Correct. 3 holes to be exact. That's why people don't shave their fenders more often.
