Everything I have read on here and other places says if you're going to spend the money, go for long tubes. That's the way you will see HP gains. There is a really great write up in the exhaust section on here where the author explains why LTs are better. Do a search with "long tube headers" and it will be one of the first ones that pops up. Just read it, very informative.

I've got shorty's on mine, i noticed a little quicker throttle response but the biggest difference was at 3k RPM and above, the truck seemed to have a little more pull to it. The truck is on the shop right now getting an exhaust overhaul with true duals, LT's, 2 high flow cats with an x-pipe. We'll see what my "butt dyno" says about the difference when I get it back later this week.

Shorty headers are a good substitute for stock header replacement. If your stock header has a crack, the shorty header would be a good candidate to use.

Like OKSTATE150 mentioned, go with long tube (equal tube length) headers if your spending the money. A bit more of a pain to install, but will provide much more performance gains than that of shorty headers.

Longtubes if you want the power. The shorty's perform just slightly better than the stock manifold and as mentioned are a good replacement part. Thats about it.

shortys are great if you have an older car/truck. its only recently that manufacturers are realizing that if they spend a couple bux on simple things to make the motor more efficient, emmissions goes downa and milage goes up. factory manifolds now are much better then they were 10-15 years ago
