Default Shocks for 2004 fx4

Any suggestions for shock replacement on a 2004 fx4?? I'm looking for a soft plush ride. Currently it has a very stiff off-road feel... the kind that when you run over a dime in the rd it will jar you out of the seat. I've had the trk for 3 yrs but never drove it on a regular basis but took it through the neighborhood last night after installing new headlights and honestly have no idea how my son drives it on a daily basis.

Well, these trucks don't have shocks up front, they have struts. I have Bilstein 5100s set to the 2" setting and love them, using the original springs. Tech mentioned the Monroe Quick Struts. Both are great choices. For the rear (shocks), I also have the 5100s. Those are on the fence for me. They are clunking around really badly.

Rancho 9000 series (Quicklift up front) made a world of difference for me. I have them set at 3 front and back. I felt like I could feel it when I ran over a quarter before the swap, now it does a nice job of eliminating the constant rattle over ever little ripple in the road.

Rancho Quicklifts with RS-9000XL's out back. 5 front, 4 rear. Loved that setup.

THIS!!! I have all mine set on 5. Had them set on 3 at first which was a little too soft.

Every suggestion so far has been a great one, but I'll just throw in that if you're looking to save a bit of money over some of the other options, a set of Bilstein 4600s (the yellow/blue ones) would go a long way in taming the ride quality quite a bit. These come as OEM upgrade shocks for a lot of trucks, and are very high quality.

Not sure where you're located but I'm selling a pair of brand new Monroe quick struts in the selling section. I ended up going with the Rancho Quicklift route instead. A little more money but I'm happy with it. I went with with Rancho 5000's, heard stories of the tuning **** rusting and not being able to be used with the 9000's. I live where roads get salted and then there's the beach so I opted not to go that route.
