Shaking/Shudder While Breaking
I went ahead and changed the rotors/pads tonight on the rear. It was the rotors, you could see the skip marks on the backside of the rotor. Brake pad as well. Thank you to everyone who gave their input on the problem. All is right.
One thing I've found on brakes is that much of what is available rotors/pads are garbage. . . . . good for about 20k before you start having the issues you are having. .
Ask yourself why the original brakes on the vehicles go 50k and then when you replace them they go maybe 20k. . there is a serious quality difference in the parts. Had the same issue on my Wife's Ford Flex. 70k on original brakes 20k on replacement brakes. . . luckily she drives a lot of miles so it was under the year warranty.
I am trying out r1concepts.com rotors (slotted only, no holes) the higher quality alloy and OEP pads. . If you search for them on here they are active on the forums and there is a significant discount for them if you mention you are on f150forums, just email the guy that posts here directly.
I am about 500 miles into them and so far they have been great. They feel different and I haven't completely identified what it is. When I brake, it seems like the longer I hold the brake pedal it starts braking better as they heat up. If I hold the pedal in the same position, the rate of deceleration increases significantly, I have to let off the pedal a bit to smooth it out. I don't know if maybe I've got some air or something in the system as I changed out the brake fluid at the same time.
These brakes are as smooth as butter when stopping.

Beaver: Noticed the same thing on other vehicles when I switched to Hawk HPS pads. A little heat in the pad and they would grab harder. Also, as it slowed down, it seemed like some strange physics would take over, like a 'horsepower-vs-torque' graph or something. Definitely more braking power below like 30mph.
I had shaking when applying the brakes, regardless of speed. Thought it might have been the rotors, but turned out it was the wheel bearing on the driver's side that had become worn. Can't replace just the bearing any more. You have to replace the whole unit, which also comes with the abs sensor.
