Default Sell It or Keep It?

Looking for Opinions or Flaming.. Currently Can't decide either to "Invest" in Mods or Start looking for a Diesel. I really want a Diesel and was really hoping there would be one for 1/2 Tons, However that doesn't look like its happening until MAYBE 2015 at the earliest and that's from any of the Big 3.
I would have to find a F250 or the Like which is more $$$.

If i keep the F150, I would like the Following Mods..To be Stopped from trading in eventually.

Signal Mirrors
Navigation
Leather Seat Covers/Or Real Leather
Linex Rocker Panels
Repaint existing

Which would be around 2700+New Paint.
What's ur Thoughts? Am i Nuts

Unless you do a lot of heavy towing; why do you want to go diesel? The price of diesel is higher than gas in North America and maintenance is also higher, while fuel economy differences are negligible when you factor the curb weight on a 250. The diesel topic comes up a lot on the Jeep forums and I just don't see the practicality unless your trump cards are torque/towing or engine longevity.

The grass sometimes seems greener on the other side of the fence. Much of my family lives in Eastern Europe and I live there part-time and we have a couple diesels, which serve their purposes (as stated above), but are not much of a value proposition here in the States IMO.

Just curious as to the benefits you see with going diesel?

If u want a diesel, then go for it. I'd get a diesel for the reason of longevity, and the fact I need a truck to haul horse and cattle trailers. But those are my reasonings. But it's hard to justify buying a 50k vehicle just because u want to

Unless you're towing, I wouldn't do it. Higher purchase cost, higher fuel cost, higher maintenance, hard starting in the winter...the grass may be greener on the other side but you still have to mow the lawn.

The options that you want can also add up as well.

If you add those mods, you won't get much back out when you sell or trade. Maybe the leather, if it's quality. However, the paint will more than reduce any value the other mods add.
Why not find a nice 150 with leather and the color you want, then add the other options.

I've been toying around with the diesel idea too...the cost and extra maintenance has kept me in my 150. I even tow with mine, although not often.

Reason Diesel, I do Tow a 5,000 Pound Camper a Few times a year. Looking at Diesel for a long term "Investment" If u call a Vehicle that.. Getting a Vehicle that can go 300K+ On the Original Motor, I drive 63 Miles a day if i Bought a Diesel i know i could get 10-15yrs out of it. Hell if they would be Smart and Drop a small Diesel in the F150, I'd be all over that as well. Not to mention Mid 20's for Mileage.

As Far as the Mods, Truck would be painted to same color it is now. Nav, i could probably do with out. Reason Leather or the like it Driver Seat is starting to come apart at the Seam.

This is just a though process, I realize the Grass on the other side maybe Greener. I just am so over the U.S. and its Ain't Diesel thinking. Obviously its the Smarter Choice if the rest of the World uses it. Once again this Country is Behind.

Also Price Point, ECO Boost Equipped the way i want is around 37K, I Pick up the Same in a Diesel for about 44K.

Than again if some one would make a SUV in a Diesel that can Two 7500+ And Get 28mpg, I'd be all over it.

My point of view is if you have a steady job. The money to make the payments, afford ruetine maitnance, and pay for diesel go for it. Every man deserve a bad *** toy atleast once in his life lol. My next truck will be a diesel!
