Just installed my s&b cai this morning. Everything went without a hitch. The kit fit really well. The truck hasn't throwed any codes yet. Can anybody tell me what kind of gains I might see from this.

 

Realistically a few horse. With the 4.6 L you don't have to worry about the lean condition, but if you want to take full advantage of the intake a custom tune is needed.

 

I have the S&B as well. The cool thing about them, is that they don't throw any numbers around. Products like K&N, etc. promise 15hp gains (just a guesstimate lol), with sketchy results.

I did see that there was a noticeable amount of better throttle response, not to mention the growl it produces at different RPMs (for me, it's at right above 2k and again at about 3k) Needless to say, I'm happy with mine.

 

I've noticed the growl but wit a 8 mile drive to work I havent had much of a chance to stick my foot through the throttle body to really see the difference. Have noticed a change of sound in the exaust.

 

yeah those gains the say you get are from a fine tuned motor,headers exhaust and tuned to get the most hp out of there product. tuned and tweaked untill the get a better number then other companies with similiar products. thats why it is up (whatever number) HP . in reality one is not much better than the rest.
