Default Rust ...

So this is my uncles truck F150 Lariat and my wife wants it..but the rust is pretty extensive. How expensive to get this decent? Not prefect .. but seems that there are lots of options and we are a bit lost. Help and advice really appreciated.

no pics of the most critical area(s)… the frame. If frame is bad I wouldn’t waste any time/money, but if frame is ok, and if yoh get it free/cheap, yoh could slow down/stop additonal rust with various lanolin spray products.

any attempts to “fix” the rust/paint, will be expensive, not with it, and futile….. but that’s just my opinion.

(read up on 5.4 3v issues too). Good luck.

With the amount of rust on the bed, doors, and rocker panels, I'm willing to bet the frame is in bad shape. The floorplans will be toast as well.

All that rust is coming from the inside out. So there’s plenty you’re not seeing. To get it right, you’d need to replace just about every panel.

We haven’t even seen the frame.

100% pass on that truck.

Buy another truck. Even if you need to buy it from another state.

Body rust is one thing but you gotta check out the under carriage cuz that might be toast.

Even minimal repairs on that truck is going to cost more than it is worth, Like others said if the frame has rust holes it's a gonner.

Mine is starting to look like this... Fixed the frame already, about to do the bed support repairs. Trying to save up for a 2015+ with the aluminum body.

IF the frame isn't as bad as the body...IF you NEED a pickup for utilitarian duty...IF her uncle will GIVE the truck to her, take it. Otherwise, be very afraid and run like hell the other way. Just saying.
