Is this something that mainly affects northern trucks with salt and snow?

Good question. I'm assuming so, but my whole point of starting this thread was to just raise awareness. It really only takes a few minutes to check its condition.

I'm actually curious to know how yours has held up for whatever mileage your at considering your in a different climate (I'm assuming)

Yeah I need to install an additional fuel driver thingy to run dual pumps.

My plan was to fancy **** harness into the cab and install both in an electrical box along with the Relays.

Good or Bad idea?

By the way... my trucks a 2006 with 95k and it was rotted in half and hanging by its wire harness. Just glad it decided to leave me stranded in my driveway and not on the side of the road like others have had happen.

What do you need to do that? Do you have dual tanks?

Na you need two Fuel drivers to drive two pumps.

Btw guys I live in Maryland and got my truck in PA and it has 114,000 on it and like I said in the other posts I had a 06 before my 07 that did the same thing but left me stranded. They love to salt the hell out of the roads here.

I understand the 2 pumps = 2 modules part. But you lost me after that. Anyway, if you're talking about relocating the fuel pump drive modules into your cab to avoid corrosion.... I'd advise against it. It's a noble effort, but with proper brackets/ mounting hardware, they'll probably last for the life of the truck (additional 100,000 + miles). Just check on them once in a while. Unless your upgraded equipment requires different parts, the stick modules aren't really expensive to replace..... it's more the surprise when they fail that's the issue.

Exactly my point. Sucks to be stranded and can't figure out why it won't start only to find out its a easy/ cheap part to replace.

I imagine the ones that fail have been in visibly rough shape for a long time before it stops working.

Yes you are right it does not just get like that over night. On the plus side my new one came with new bolts, stand off spacers to keep it off the frame and a LIFETIME WARRANTY that makes it worth it.
