Sorry guys, I in no way meant to insult the Lariatsl. In my past experience of buying trucks, (I guess I'm older than most here), the Lariat was the "elderly" model; had all the "frills". My dad always went with the Lariat, and the "younger" group went the sport (FX) model way. I figured that today's models were the same; the FX would have been the "beefier" 4x4 over the Lariat.

I guess times (and model perseption) have changed.

At least in 06 it was an option. How mine had the FX4 Skidplates as an option, but not a LS still bothers me.

I bought my 2005 F150 XLT 4X4 (yes I know it has FX4 stickers on it but that's how it came dealer trying to make more money from me..definitely didn't happen though) after tax I paid 13,800 with 62,000 miles two years ago. I would keep looking, the right truck is out there for cheaper! Good luck!

I picked up a 2004 with 76K miles in February for 11,500. XLT, 4WD. 5.4, 8' bed and HD payload package.

I think I got a decent deal, considering it was a GSA truck and was IMMACULATE.

I still wish I had waited though (I hate the 8' box, now that I have it).

I had an XLT and now have the Lariat. Both were the same year. My XLT had the 4.6 and was a good truck, just always felt a little bit underpowered. But the 5.4 is the way to go in the 04-08 style. The lariat interior is much nicer and the cloth was alright, but stained super easy. My buddy has a FX4 and his seats are stained all over. Either though would be a nice choice!

Keep looking. That wouldve been a $12k truck last year around here when I was looking for a truck.

Last February I picked up my fairly loaded '06 XLT Supercab with 48k for $14700.
