It does sound like a heat shield on one of your catylitic converters is loose. That or maybe a rock got in there. That's what happened to my brothers old mustang (we lived down a gravel road)

All right! yet another application for a Redneck ragga-chug bailing wire repair. This guy had a choice two cases of Fat Tire beer or muffler hangers. He did what I would done the Fat Tire.

Yes it's a special grease made just for the muffler bearing. U have to use the special grease because the muffler bearings get hotter than ur other bearings. Just ask for it at ur parts store if u can't find it on the shelf. They will know what to get u. Good luck and be sure to let us know when u get it fixed.
