Did you check your fuse(s)? Are you getting voltage at the connections? Test with a voltmeter or test light.

Well since both of them are out I'm guessing a blown fuse. If that's not it I'd say the switch on the transision that completes the circuit when you put in reverse. You can check and see if you have power coming out of it when you put the truck in reverse and if you do then you have a wiring problem. Good luck

checked the fuse box....fuse 14 according to the manual. changed it. no joy. did not have my voltmeter. in the process of a move and cant get to it for a couple of days. i read something about a 'reverse switch' somewhere on the side of the transmission....does that ring any kinda bells

also, i do not have my reverse lights when i use my key fob and i used to.

welp...i figured it out. when i was towing this weekend[friends trailer] i blew the trailer tow back up lamps relay in position 10. previous owner or maybe even from the factor, it had a 10a fuse in it, when it is supposed to have a 20a. i replaced it with a 30a i had left over from a previous vehicle, and you guessed it lights came right on.

thanks for a the help and suggestions guys

Yeah- check fuses. I had an o3 Explorer which would blow the fuse for the back-up when it rained. Ford does noy use a cover on the fuse block under the dash. The parking brake pedal would get wet. When I realsed the brake it would kick water onto the fuse block. I assumed that this is why it happened.

Yes, Never place a higher fuse into a circuit that requires a lower amp fuse. The wiring cannot handle the 30 amp draw, and can cause an electrical fire.
