Or, if you recently installed LED bulbs/taillight assemblies at the rear of the truck that did not include a load resister circuit. Most LED bulb manufacturers today install these required circuits in their bulb assemblies or taillights, but there are still some cheap ones out there that do not. These will disable your cruise as well, as the cruise circuit looks for a certain level voltage/amperage in the brake system to enable/disable itself based on filiment type bulbs. The older cruise systems used to use the brake light switch at the brake pedal to determine if the brakes were applied to disable the cruise. With standard bulbs installed, the voltage is at a certain level, and is detected by the cruise circuit to allow/disalloow cruise. When LED bulbs without a load resister are used, it alters this voltage detection, as LED bulbs on their own use a much lower draw of voltage/amperage. Folks also notice that their turn signal indicators flash much faster with LED turn signal bulbs, unless they change the flasher relay under the steering column dash.
Most new cars/trucks made today come with LED type taillight assemblies, and the older conventional bulbs cannot be used in them.

Thx to all, in my case it was the burnt bulb in the high mount stop lamp. I used one of the other two for the brake light and cruise control is working!
Any idea which LED I can use? The bulbs get really hot, so that the socket is melting. Or do the LED also get this hot?

its better to just replace the third brake unit for an LED version that has built in load resistors. mine was $38 from anzo. when you install LED bulds in your third brake light it can also mess with the cruise control circuit . or you can install a load resistor yourself.
