Restoring Switches?
Old afternoon ladies and gentlemen,
I don't know if anyone has done this, and I realize it shows my OCD, but has anyone tried to lubricate their headlight switch or multifunction switch?
Both my blinker stalk and my headlight rotator switch feel dry and creaky, I'd like to take them apart and restore them but I don't know the best stuff to use that won't short out the electronics.
Any ideas?

You've probably ran these questions through your head already, but aside from lubing the shaft, I'm guessing there's no way to get into the switches without physically breaking them? Aren't they sealed?
How much are new switches? The last time I bought an ignition switch for an '01 Ranger I used to own, it was quite reasonable. I don't know about a light and directional switch. I suppose those could get on the spendy side.
And as you've pointed out - be careful not to short them out.
There is a spray you can use for electronics that cleans the potentiometers (switches), but I can't remember the name of it. Basically it's a fast-drying spray if memory serves.

Contact cleaner is most likely going to make it worse
It will remove any shaft lube so it will squeak more . Best to replace . However if you can just clean contacts that would be good, but lubing the shafts is difficult .
There are some posts that guys are taking their drivers door window switches apart and cleaning them with some success. I have replaced mine already .
Good luck .
