Replacing Wheel Studs
Has anyone ever replaced their wheel studs? Front and Rear? I am looking to see how involved this installation is going to be. I am interested installing extended wheel studs to use spacers. From what I know I believe I have to take the hub to a machine shop to get the old ones pressed out and new ones pressed in. How hard is it to remove the hub if that's what I have to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.....
General consensus is spacers are bad news. They do make offset spacers that actually bolt on to your exsisting lugs and have their own lugs on them.
I'm not sure if it is a acceptable practice on the newer vehicles but it used to be with the older cars- you could heat the shoulder of the stud- then with a nut on it- hit the end with a hammer and the stud would come out, you would then use a spacer and a nut to install the new studs..

I believe you are talking about adapters. But the thinnest they make are 1". I am looking only to get 15mm so I can stuff my 35" mud terrains on. Yes, I am getting a bit of rubbing on the upper A-arm because they are Toyo's on stock wheels.
Yes and No... They make spacers that are identical to the adapter you are talking about only the bolt pattern doesn't change, so they are not adapters but spacers.
and yes 1" is the thinnest.
So you do have to go the other route..

Hey "rollingthunder." I just read your sig. You MIGHT run into the same problem as me. Hopefully not, but you are taller at 3" leaved up front. I am running 2.5 and the Toyo Mudder rubs REAL BAD. Hope you keep us posted when you try to install those tires. What's keeping you front installing them?
Eh, nevermind... I dident take into account that your not running OEM wheels. What's your backspacing on the aftermarket wheels?

Did he not balance it or is the weight of your rim and tire combo sitting on the studs rather than the hub? If you have aftermarket rims, they sell rings/adapters that fill the void between the hub and the hole of the rim so that the weight is evenly distributed.
