Default Replacing the stock muffler yourself

Hello,
I just got a 2006 F150 Supercab 5.4 XLT 4x4 recently, and I would like to do my first mod this weekend, swapping the muffler to a flowmaster 40 series one. I've never done anything like this before, so would be my first time and i want to be sure i do it the right way. I need to know exactly step by step on what I need to do. From my understanding, I need to cut off the muffler both sides, since it is welded in and then loosen up the clamps and the muffler should fall off. Now the way I see I need the Flowmaster 40 2.5" offset inlet/outlet one which's total length is 19", and the stock one according to my measure is about 28" inch ( not that accurate, I just checked it in a hurry ). So when do I cut off the muffler, and try to put in the new one, it wouldn't fit in with the stock pipes since the pipes would be too short? Would I have to buy new pipes and what kind etc? Would the stock clamps work? My local muffler shop would do it for 180 the muffler + installation but I want to start doing things on my own truck you know.
Thank you guys

All things considered, the current muffler still looks pretty solid. Why are you replacing it?

The stock muffler rotates into the intermediate pipe. At least it did on my 05 SCab 4.6L. I cut the pipe behind the muffler, loosened the clamp, disconnect the hanger and it rotated out like a slot & pin. I actually cut the front pipe off the muffler and used it when I put a Flowmaster back in with just a down spout.

I'm replacing it because I want to be able to hear my truck basically. In my opinion, a truck should sound louder than regular cars, and more aggressive / mean but that is just my opinion. I love the sound of the V8. @nrivera04 But the flowmaster muffler is like 19" long and the stock muffler's like 28" how did you connect them without having to use any aftermarket pipes or anything?

Used parts and pieces from the stock set up. Like I cut the stud off the muffler to use for the exhaust hanger. It was pretty much a custom job my coworker and I did while we were on duty at the fire station one day. He wanted to play with a new welder he had just bought.

Buy the flowmaster yourself and have the shop weld it up for you...

That's probably what I'm going to do, but see I want start doing my own things for the truck. It's my first vehicle and want to start learning. But it's kind of hard to get the pipes and everything. I mean the mufflers 19" and the stocks like 28" so. I don't know what type of pipe do I need to get. And then am I gonna have to clamp it together or weld it or both. Do I need single inlet/outlet muffler and 2"5 too right ? https://www.autozone.com/exhaust/performance-muffler/flowmaster-40-series-delta-flow-muffler/372016_0_0 would this be good? And what's the difference between the delta flow 40 and regular 40? I know I want 40 because I looked around and it has the nice idle/rumble and not too loud when driving but can wake up the neighbours when floor it lol
