Default Replacement ignition key

I need to purchase a replacement ignition key for my '06 SCrew, 5.4.
Only have one key.
Will this key/programming be a dealer only purchase?

Thanks
Ken

Ive seen them on eBay, they come with directions to program them to your truck as well.

With only one key, the dealer will have to program the 2nd key. You need 2 keys to program a 3rd key yourself.

Before you pay the dealer big $$ for programming your 2nd key, see if you can find a local locksmith who deals in cars. In many cases, the local dealers tend to use them when they get auction cars in the lot, etc. I was able to get a 2 extra keys and remote fob sourced and programmed by a local locksmith for $70, with a fixed $30 programming fee.

http://www.keyless-remotes.com/

I buy remotes and keys from this place. Then my dealer charges me $45 to program.

Default Has anyone seen this?

I'd love to have another spare key for my 2006 Ford F-150, but I hear they can cost upwards of $150 at the dealer. Ace Hardware sells replacement keys, but they are almost $80. This sounds almost to good to be true. There is only one review. Anyone know anything for about this?

Amazon Amazon

Thanks

Brian

If you have two programmed keys already, you can order another one off if EBay for around $15 and program it yourself. You have to have two programmed keys in order to program another one. If you just have the one key then you will have to go to a Ford dealer and have them program it for you. That is why I keep three keys always. There are many keys available on EBay for a fraction of the cost.

Any Locksmith with the device can program another key. We had the factory key and an aftermarket key. Took him about 10 minutes. I didn't know about AE back then.
