Default removed flowmaster to straight pipes

OK, So I had my Flowmaster 40 series muffler removed yesterday and we Y piped out to dual 2.5 inch pipes. So I am now running stock cats to 2.5 inch straight pipes out the back, no tips. There is definitely an increase in the sound but NOT what I was expecting. I had the impression it would be much much louder. The guy at the muffler shop said adding tips would help so I ordered 3.5 inch Black Powder coated tips but they wont be in til Saturday. even without the tips shouldn't I be noticing a big increase in sound without the muffler? Could there be a problem somewhere else, clogged cats maybe? Truck isn't throwing any codes what so ever. I am running a 4 inch Spectre CAI and edge CS tuner. I haven't stood outside the truck yet to hear it with someone steeping on the gas... but from the drivers seat I'm only hearing maybe a 25% increase in sound...

If you really want it louder, you have to run true duals. I have the same set-up btw, just a y at the back. My buddy's 05' has true duals with an h-pipe, that thing is a lot louder.

Yeah, cut into the factory Y, and run duals to your Y split in front of your rear axle. I was quoted $250 to run dual pipes from the factory Y to my rear Y. So in a couple of weeks I will be getting that done.

Like this guy has. But with better welds hopefully.

If you get and h-pipe put in, make sure its as close to the front as possible. Same with an x-pipe.

I have true duals with no mufflers and 4" tips and it's amazing. It will be loud enough, I used to have it with out 2 of the cats and left to resonators up there an that was so loud. Heard some straight from the engine and that is insanely loud

I had a 14 inch magnaflow that I deleted and ran the pipe out before the right rear tire...... It's a little louder on start up.... Mostly when cold but thats it...... Next will be longtubes, highflow cats, and SLP cat back
