Default Refuel hole question

Ok so im going to try and explain this as best as i can. The metal part that opens when you insert the gas nozzle at the gas station to pump gas on my truck is missing. So when you remove the gas cap all you see is a hole. Is this a problem that i should get fixed or is this nothing to really worry about?

you are talking about the metal flap that srpings out of the way when you insert the nozzle, right? if so I would be too concerned about it, however it almost sounds like someone pryed it open trying to siphon gas out.

I've never had one on my truck. My 01 F150 didn't have one either.

My 98 did have one. I bought my 05 from a friend who is a mechanic, and a perfectionist, before i bought it he pin pointed all the little imperfections but never said anything about this. When i noticed it i was curious but figured as long as the cap was on it was fine.
