Default RECON third/taillights

I was finally able to install my RECON smoked third taillight and red smoked taillights today. Don't believe the "plug-n-play" hype regarding the third taillight. After researching a little (cause there were no instructions included) I found that you had to drop the rear head lining to access the plug. Other than that I love the look. Let me know what you think.

I did not have to drop the rear of the headliner to do my third brakelight install. Removing the stock third brakelight assembly gained me access to the harness plug. It did not have much in the way of length, but I was able to plug it into the new smoked assembly. I have a standard cab, so perhaps Ford was stingy on the length of harness on the crew type cabs.

A touch of clear silicone on the two screw heads after tightening down, and I was good to go. No leaks after a year of it in service.

Yours looks great against the red body color.

Thanks Bucko, i was worried when i ordered them that they wouldn't look right but I'm really pleased. I guess it didn't help that I was trying to install the third, leaning over my bed cover. I need to throw some silicone on there.

I have the same 3rd brake light and I have a crew also and I didnt have to take down the headliner. Just unscrewed the old one, undid the clips, and plugged it into the new one.

Good looking tails! Really wish I would've gone Recon instead of eBay. But oh well. I don't really like the 3rd though. It's too gray, needs to be darker. Just my 2¢.

I agree I wish they made one to match the tails. But oh well, got it off eBay for $50 so I'm not complaining.

Got all of mine off eBay. The tails are great, the 3rd didn't seal right and burnt out in 3months. Recon needs to make them black.
