Hey guys 2004 F150 rearview mirror has wire coming down from the head liner and plugged into mirror but it has no compass nor does it auto dim. What are the wire for and if there for nothing does that mean I can plug in

This picture gives you the answer! Power to your display in the upper right. The wiring is for 12 volts and ground to make that display work. I can't quite read the buttons on the mirror, but it looks like you can toggle between compass (?) and temp (?)

The buttons say "compass" and "temp". After I read your question and looked at the picture I was a little confused as to why you were asking your question but as Bucko so politely explained to you....

A picture is worth a thousand words, in this case it's also your answer.

This picture is not my mirror. My mirror doesn't have anything no compass no auto dim as far as I know but it does have a wire connected to it. I was just curious if this mirror would attach to the cord that is on my mirror and work? Sorry if that is what you are trying to tell me lol

that wire is for your compass module that attaches to the underside of your mirror. It is the compass brain.
