Default Rearend Diff gears...

I have a 06, XLT, 5.4 and I am about to put 33x12,50x17's on the stock rims and I was wondering if I need to upgrade from the 3:73 stock gears to accomidate the larger tires? I am also going to get an X3 tuner from troyer performance so not sure if I need to change gears. But any advice would really help.

no you don't need to. most people don't regear until they get 37's or bigger but some do with 35's. with 33's and stock wheels you will barely be able to tell a difference from stock power wise that is. with a tuner it will make it quicker than stock.

I have 33's on my 04 FX4 and it runs fine. I did notice a little difference between these and the previous set, although I went from almost bald tires to Mud Terrains.

I agree on not regearing. I have 3.55's with a 5.4, and went from the cheesy stock 235 hankooks, (31") to 285 (33") BFG's, and the truck handles them just fine. Yes, I noticed a slight (and I mean SLIGHT) difference in power, but the cold air intake and magnaflow exhaust seemed to offset that.

I'm changing my gears to 4.10's for the hole shot i dint have one! A tuner and exhaust doesn't help that i have both and an intake. 3.55 suck 3.73 are OK stock. i had a dodge hemi 4x4 in high school and it had 4.11's very nice. i have checked a couple of shops and the 4x4 shops are cheapest 600 for the change. the gears are $150 and 80 for the install kit if you know someone who can change them its a good deal. and not everyone wants exhaust

Default 4.10 or 4.56

I have 35's with 3.73 gears. I pull trailers and enjoy off road. I worry about the strain on my trans. (I still want the 35's) I want to regear. 4.10 or 4.56

My gut tells me 4.10 the shops tell me 4.56
I wish I could drive a truck like mine with 4.56 gears before I decide.

Default G/2 and Auburn

I am looking at putting g/2 gears with a lifetime wty and a 3 year 36,000 wty from the shop ... 4 wheel parts.

I am also looking into changing the rear limited slip carrier to an Auburn pro series. I hear that there will be problems with the stock limited slip down the road due to the clutch packs. If I change the limited slip at the same time I do the gears it is only the cost of the part.

Ok! So now lets hear the input. Whats bad? What good? On this setup.
