Unhappy Rear diferential mayham

  • I dont know if i uploaded this right or not. This happend to me yesterday, I saw this after do 80+ on the highway.. Would it be best to just go to a local junk yard and get a new one and replace the seals? I've always done all my own work on my cars and trucks, Just didn't know what i was getting myself into.. Thanks in advance.

Not bad, typical for the year of truck.. I did some research, I should be able to handle it, just when i get one, replace the fluids and seals, and the crush nut/washer

Wow, that's some carnage. 80 mph? Unbelievable. You dodged a bullet.

I’ve wondered how tough that job would be for non-pro (I’m a non pro). Good luck with it. Hope you’ll snap a few pics and post back with how it goes and a rough idea of how long/hard it was. Good luck.

The key is to find the same gear ratio as what you currently have so you don't have to mess with swapping over the carrier /ring and pinion.

Thank God you are okay
That could have locked up on you
Good advice above
Junkyard and look at several then buy the nicest less rusty one
Those 9.75 axles are all over the junkyards

Default Need advice

I have a 2008 f150 XL, 2wd 5 speed manual. 4.2L 8.8 x 3.73 disc 6 lug, and I need to know if I can put my 6 lug axles in a 2000 f150 4.2L auto 8.8 x 3.55 disc 5lug rearend?
my 2008 rearend has gone thru 3 sets of spider gears in last year, and carrier lil worn. I'm hoping to use this donor rearend but need to keep my 6lug tires and rims
