Yeah it is for a hands free telephone. Your radio must also be satellite compatible too right? I had a car with xm and built in phone. It shared minutes with my cell and had its own phone number. Push the phone button and say call, then speak the number or name and it calls.

Yes, It is a satelite radio however I do not subscribe. Do I have to have a subscription for this function to work. When I push the button it just says no phone.

I would bet you do have to have the subscription as I think the phone goes through the satellite. Mine was a Saturn and was XM but XM and Sirius are all one now. Would make sense that it works the same. It is a neat function but that ain't exactly cheap. Plus you have the cost of an added line on your cell plan or a separate cell plan for the minutes. mine was through verizon.

It might just be a blue tooth hands free connection for your phone. I have an after market navigation stereo system in my truck and it has a blue tooth connection with my phone. Also mine does not require anything from my phone company, if your phone has blue tooth then it will work. Its handy as hell if thats what it is. Check your owners manual.

Interesting... I always thought that was a mute button for when you get on the phone.
