Default Question regarding tires

Hello:

I have a 2007 F150 XLT Supercab. I am looking to change the stock wheels/tires on the vehicle to something much bigger with better traction. I believe that the stock tires are P235/75Rx17 BSW all terrains on 17"mach aluminum rims.

I was looking to get a good set of tiers that would work really well when I am off road and mostly during the winter as well (snow, black ice, slush, etc.). I was considering something like the 35X12.50 R18 Nitto's (http://www.4x4groupbuy.com/store/nit...50-p-2208.html).

My questions are:

1. Given what I have mentioned above regarding what I want the tires for (off-roading / heavy winter usage) are the Nittos good tires for the price? if not do you folks have any other suggestions?
2. Should I use the stock rims with this tires or should I get another set of rims? how big can I safely (using common sense) go with the stock rims?
3. If I do need new rims do you have any recommendations?
4. I had heard that there is a sensor on the stock rims that tracks the pressure of tires, can this be easily moved over to new rims if I need to replace them?
5. If I decided to buy a spare as well, would a tire of that size fit in the spare space?

Thanks folks!

First of all...you stated that your stock rims are 17's...if this is true then the tires you mention above 35/12.50/18 will not fit on your rims...you don't mention if you truck is a 4X4 or not...35's will rub ...TPMS bands on your stock wheels need to be cut off and re-installed on your new wheels if you don't opt to buy a new set...you can do this buy ordering some new bands and use the same sensors...ford crimps their bands on and the new bands will be like big hose clamps. As for your spare...you should have a 17 wheel with your spare tire on it...who knows what size it is til you lower it down and look. I don't know how the Nitto's do in snow and ice...I have BFG.

you wouldn't really wanna run that tire if you plan to run them on the winter time, mud tires have less contact patch and easier to spin out.

Hir, Id did in fact leave that out. The truck is 4x4. Does that mean that the tires will rub?

What kind of BFG would u recommend? and do you have any preference on rims?

If you want to stick with Nitto's get some 295/70-18 Terra Grapplers. They are about 34.5"x11.7" So they are close to 35s but with these, they wont rub with an aftermarket rim, plus they are a great A/T tire.

Thanks for your reply FSU.
I feel I need to mention that I am not against purchasing bigger rims to fit bigger tires if need be. I would not mind getting rid of my stock rims.

So having said that, will the tires still rub if I buy proper rims for them? meaning is the size limitation due to measurements of the wheel well or were people saying that the tires would rub because of the smaller rims?

Thanks,

You don't need bigger rims, you just need to look at tires with a "R17" at the end instead of "R18". Look for a set with overall dims similiar to ***fan09's 295's at 34.5x11.50 or so.
