Default question on a leveling kit??

I have a 2005 SCREW 2WD 4.6 and I want to put a leveling kit on it but i cant decide between a 2 inch or 3 inch and really dont know if there is much of a difference if anyone has done this can you please give me some insight. Also i want to keep my stock rims but get the largest tire I can, i have 17's so what is the largest tire i could get without rubbing. Thanks for everything

go measure the gap between the tires and the fenders front and back, the difference should be the deciding factor

every truck is different

yep, there have been some people that put a 2.5" on and it raised the front higher than the back. i put a 3" on mine and still have a slight drop in the front but i have heavy duty rear shocks and now air bags.

the best way to measure the difference is first, park on a level surface. thats the most important thing. then measure from the center of your wheel to the center of your wheel well, fender, whatever you wanna call it. thats gonna give you the most accurate reading. how do i know? i seen it in a magazine

I measured from the top of the wheel openings to the ground, and again from the lower crease on the body side, both came with the same results, about 1 3/4 to 2". While the truck looks to be up in the back end more than it is, I know a 3" on mine would have me looking for squirrels in the trees.

Try what has been suggested, measure it our on a level surface. I then suggest using a floor jack and lifting the front up to what you are considering and see how it looks and measures up.

I'd go with the 2" kit and some 285x70x17's (33's) on the stock wheels. Would look great on a leveled 4x2.

could I go any larger than the 285/70 ? and I have decided that i will definitely be leveling it, but does anyone have any suggestions on which brand to buy, it seems that there are major prices differences say in the hell bent steel or the truxxx models, any suggestions would be great!

You can’t go any larger than 33” tires on a leveled 4x2. You would need a suspension lift to fit bigger tires. There are several brands too choose from. Hell Bent Steel and Auto Spring are the popular brands. I plan to install a BDS level kit once my tires and wheels come in.
