Question About Reman Engine
After 218,000 miles on our 2006 F-150 XLT, I am thinking I spun a crank bearing. After reading several threads here regarding purchasing and installing a remanufactured engine, I am curious why a few folks recommended to purchase an '08 engine instead of the '07 mentioned in one of the threads? Is there a spcific reason to suggest that? I will admit my '06 was never a powerhouse. Thanks in advance for any and all replies!

if you’re really going to spend that coin, I would talk to reman company and only buy what that say (in writing) is compatible. The last thing you’d want is for them to have an “out” on the warranty should you ever need it.
having said that (and as much as I like 11th gen, it would have to be a VERY special truck for me to consider dumping that kind of money into. But opinions/priorities vary - good luck with whatever you decide. Post back with what you do and how it goes.
not sure what you refer to, but perhaps the ‘late 2008’ that has the different heads/plugs/coils?

Over the last couple of years my wife bought me new carpet, seats...and I recently installed all new A/C hardware/parts. We purchased the truck new in '06. I am also considering finding a donor vehicle for the engine but that is a gamble as well.

That is good to know! I will definately discuss with the supplier re: fitment, warranty, etc. Also I will be the installer so I don't want that "Oh crap" moment!
