There isnt a need for a relay. Follow the instructions in that thread. I have it done in my truck.

Did this to my truck last week. Works like a charm. And as stated above no need for a relay. And everything works fine no need to switch out batteries or anything if installed as guided. I also have the "Valet" switch so that if I ever have the truck valeted or worked on I can flip the switch and the key will work again.

i did the mod today. since i already had the lighter gutted and the switch mocked up it only to a 1/2 hr from start to finish! i was amazed how quick n easy it was. i guess i was just over thinking it. the hardest thing was getting the needed wires unbundled under the dash. a plus is the wife didnt get why i was doing it, but now she likes the cool factor.

Just finished doing this to my ride as well. I gotta admit hacking off the back of the cigarette lighter was a bitch but all in all it really wasn't too hard or complicated. Took about an hour, and $20 at Autozone (most of it was wiring stuff I don't have at my new house, really it should only cost like $7) Totally worth it though, And yea my gf was bitching at me for doing stuff to my truck until she saw the finished result. I feel like James Bond now, thanks guys!
