I have a 2004 5.4 and am going to be doing the spark plug change and I was wondering where you guys are purchasing your spark plugs and what ones?

Ive been a ford tech at a dealer now for 20 years & imo as much work as it is on that motor to swap out plugs do yourself a favor & get the factory motorcraft plugs. Im sure others are just as good but why not just put in a ford factory plug, im sure they cant be that much more than aftermarket... DONT FORGET TO CHANGE ALL 8 OF YOUR COIL BOOTS!

Motorcraft plugs are available other places besides the stealership. Rockauto.com has them the cheapest I've found and if you google it you can find discount codes to get them even cheaper. Autozone also carries the motorcraft plugs. From my searching the stealership was the most expensive place to buy them.

make sure you coat the threads in anti seize as well prior to re-install, that should make them easier to come out when you do your next change.

from what i have heard they are good as well but last for less miles (like 60k instead of 100k) and they are more expensive, but i think it would be worth the cost due to them being one piece design... i would still coat with anti seize just for ease of replacement, the topic of spark plugs has been covered MANY times do a search and see what you come up with

Agree with motorcraft. Other stores carry them but are you saving any money. Champion is expensive. Antiseize the taper just below the threads as well. Lisle tool to extract them.

Your talking about replacing just the boots right, not the coils? And why do they need to be replaced with the plugs? Im just wondering cuz im going to do this soon.
