Default Programmer. SCT, Diablo, Edge..

I know most users here rep the Edge Evolution and I agree that it looks really cool when it is mounted. However I'm not sure that I want an invitation for my truck to be broken into..

So lets focus on function not fashion........

I've got a couple of different sources telling me different ideas. I am currently doing my homework on SCT, Diablo, and Edge products. If you have one of these three setups (preferably the first two) let me know what your opinions are. If you are running something different fill me in on that product. Thanks.

If someone breaks in and steals your edge, it's useless to anyone else who tries to use it.
I use an edge, it's good

I do not have any experience on my f150 but I did have sct livewire on my 08 powerstroke. It had tons of options available as far as different gauges and whatnot to monitor. I really liked it. I havnt got around to having it re programed for my 5.4 yet. The only thing I didn't like about it is when it was on it had a ring to it. Like your ears were ringing. Nothing the radio couldn't drown out. And the graphics are very plain and the unit itself is not really "eye candy" like others available. But the free upgrades from sct are nice

It might be useless to them. But in addition to not having the badass mounted programmer, I would have a broken window.

I have a SCTX3 on my 08 5.4 with custom tunes from 5star and I'm very happy. Truck runs very well. I talked to two guys who deal with ford tunning and both recommended SCT on fords. Belive me I wanted the fancy digital gauges but didn't like the idea of having it pluged into my trucks computer all the time. With the SCT you just flash it once, unplug it and your done. I don't plan on switching back and forth from tunes or different levels. Although not a problem if you want to I just figure get the truck set up to run good and leave it alone. My advice would be no matter what brand you buy get it from a place that offers good customer service in case you have any questions or problems you have somone who can help you out.

I have an Edge and I am happy with the programmer. I like all the extra gauges and tools right there at my finger tips. If you are worried about break ins you can always remove the Edge from your dash when you are not in the vehicle.

But the bum who takes it and causes other damage probably doesn't know or care. You can get them unlocked for a price. And, in my opinion taking it out of a driver continuously you might just consider another brand also. I would have to take it out at least once a day. And putting it back in just for looks, what a pain. I just want to start my truck and go from one place to the next, not jag around putting a cool looking gauge in my truck.

Yea I'm most likely going to go with SCT. I just want a good tune so I'm not sluggin' around on 33's anymore.

I have the diablosport and have been happy with it. Have had it about a year. It has both 87 and 91 octane tunes for the tunes and also has intake tunes if u have aftermarket cai. I have a k&n and use the 87 k&n tune. The only downside is that it doesn't offer a specific tow tune. I asked on their forum and was told that it is okay to run up to factory tow specs with the tune. I have towed with it and didn't have any issues. It can also have custom tunes loaded, but they seem to be a bit more expensive than some others. I'm happy with the canned cai tune.
