I was talking to a guy who sells the sct x3 and he said depending on what octane and custom tune I could expect roughly a 25-30 HP increase just from the programmer. I wanted to know if anyone has gotten more from another programmer and there thoughts on a sct x3 with custom tuned. I have a '04 f150 FX4

ishful thinking to get that much HP/TQ gains from the tunner alone on our trucks. Maybe with a CAI and exhaust, you'll come close.

One member here posted dyno results with each individual aftermarket upgrade; search for this post.

Different vehicles and engines react differently to these types of common upgrades, but I doubt you'll see 25 to 30 HP/TQ gains with the tunner alone.

Oh okay the guy from five star programming said that but ya I'm doing CAI, performance headers, with true duals. So hopefully that will get some good improvements out of her

People who have gotten the sct seem to all realy like them especially with a custom tune.

I have had the Edge evolution for about 2 years now and really enjoy it as well. I run it on the level 2-towing tune for the most part and really like the little bump in performance it gives. the tranny tweaks are where you feel the most improvement. cant tell much if any real power gains on level 2 but you can feel it on level 3. these are the stock tunes of course, my truck only has a k&n drop in and the gotts mod and straght pipe after the cats.
I mainly chose the Edge over the other becasue i like being able to use it other then just flashing a tune and then putting it in the glove box. I like the extra gauges i can monitor other then the mph and tach.

Oh yeah, points for not asking what mpg improvement you should be expecting with all the mods you have lined up

Ya I'm not to worried about mpg, I lost that when I put 35 s on it. that's the one down fall to the sct is there is no gauge cluster with it. Can upgrade to one but its another four hundred.

The preloads on a SCT for a 5.4 running 93 octane will give you about 15, with the CAI and custom tunes it is not unheard to get about 25-30 more HP out of it

You can get a used SCT Livewire for around $375 to $400 if you look hard enough. Just make sure it is UNLOCKED otherwise cost you another $150 to get SCT to unlock it.
